Junk Hauling in Gurley

Gurley is a small town east on US-72, past Brownsboro, where the valley narrows toward Paint Rock and the houses are older and have been owned longer than almost anywhere else in Madison County. Junk hauling in Gurley is mostly homeplace work: a house that has been in the family since the 40s, a smokehouse or a shop out back, and three generations of belongings that have to be sorted before the place is sold or a grandchild moves in.

We come out from Huntsville at the same price list, by load size from a photo, and we do not charge for the drive.

The pattern is a house that was never fully emptied by the last generation, and a family that wants it done right rather than fast.

Old homeplace cleanouts

An old Gurley house holds things in layers. The front rooms have the furniture the family used. The back bedrooms have the furniture from the house before that. The attic has trunks, the porch has an iron bed frame and a wringer washer, and the shop has every tool and part a man kept for fifty years because he might need it.

We work it as an estate cleanout: a keep room nobody touches, a donation pile for the good furniture and the dishes, metal and appliances to recycling, the rest to the proper facility. Old houses also hide the things we do not take, paint, fuel, chemicals, and we set those aside and tell you where they go.

Families here often want to go slow. One load this week, the shop next month. That is fine. We quote each visit by the load and come back when you are ready.

Iron beds, oak dressers, a treadle sewing machine and a pie safe often go to donation or to a family member rather than the truck; we set them by the door and let you decide.

What one truck takes

Not every Gurley job is a whole house. A lot of calls are one truckload: the mattresses and the dresser from a spare room, the dead chest freezer and the washer from the porch, the brush pile and the old fence from along the road, or the sofa that did not survive the grandkids.

A full truck is a full load, and most of these jobs fit in one. We carry from where it sits, including the porch, the loft and the far end of the yard, and we do not need you to stage anything at the road. Say in the form if the drive has a gate, a creek crossing or a soft spot after rain.

If it is a little more than one truck, the quote says so and we come back the next morning rather than guess.

Porches and lofts are where the heavy pieces hide, and we carry from both.

Services in Gurley

Estate and house cleanouts for the homeplaces. Furniture removal for the single-room jobs. Construction debris and yard waste for the brush, the fence and the roof tin off the old barn. Appliance removal for the porch freezers and the washer that quit.

The homeplaces are slow work; the single-room jobs are a morning.

Nearby

Brownsboro is the next town west on 72, New Market is north over the ridge, and the Paint Rock valley runs east toward the county line. The truck works the east side of the county as one route, so a Gurley pickup usually rides with one in Brownsboro or Hampton Cove the same day, and we go up the valley a little past the line when the load is worth the trip.
