Junk Removal in Owens Cross Roads

Owens Cross Roads sits where US-431 leaves Hampton Cove and heads for Guntersville, with Green Mountain on one side and the Flint River bottoms on the other. The town is half new subdivision and half old farmstead, and we haul for both: furniture and builder leftovers from the newer streets, estate cleanouts and shop clean-outs on the acreage places that have been in one family since the land was still in cotton.

Junk removal in Owens Cross Roads is priced the same as in Huntsville, by load size from a photo, and the long driveways and detached buildings out here do not add a line.

The pattern out here is a long driveway, a detached building and a pile that has been waiting for a truck for a long time.

Homes along the 431 corridor

The subdivisions that filled in along Highway 431 and Old Highway 431 over the last fifteen years look like Hampton Cove's younger sibling: brick-front two-stories, three-car garages, a bonus room and a backyard that ends at a tree line. The garages fill up with the same builder leftovers and move-out piles we see across the county, and the bonus rooms hold the furniture from the house before this one.

There are also the lake-weekend houses. People who live in Huntsville and keep a place toward Guntersville pass through here, and when the lake house gets sold or redone, the old furniture, the dock chairs and the dead fridge need to leave on a day when the owner can be there. We schedule around that.

The older homes off Hobbs Island Road and along the river bottoms are the third kind: ranches and farmhouses from the 60s and 70s on a few acres, with a carport, a shop and a barn.

Hobbs Island Road, Sutton Road and the roads off Old 431 toward the river are where the older places are, and most of the estate work we do here is on those roads.

Shops, barns and outbuildings

A detached shop on an acreage lot in Owens Cross Roads holds thirty years of a man's projects: a mower that does not run, a second mower kept for parts, tires, lumber, a welder, feed sacks, a riding toy, three freezers. When the property sells or the family downsizes, the shop is the part nobody wants to face.

We empty shops and barns the same way we do houses: keep pile by the door, usable tools and equipment set aside for donation, metal and appliances to recycling, the rest to the proper facility. Gas cans with fuel, old chemicals and the drum of who-knows-what get set aside and we tell you where they go. A full shop is usually two loads and a day.

The gravel drive is fine. If the building is behind a gate or a cattle guard, say so and we bring the right truck.

Barns are the same job with hay dust and a few more wasps. We take the contents, not the structure, unless you want it down too, and then it is a demolition line in the quote.

Services here

Estate and house cleanouts for the farmsteads and the older ranches along the river. Construction debris and yard waste for the subdivision remodels and the limbs that come down off Green Mountain in a spring storm. Furniture removal for the lake-house turnover and the sectional that did not fit the new place. Appliance removal for the shop freezers and the garage fridge. Garage cleanouts for the three-car garage that holds one car.

Most Owens Cross Roads calls are a mix, the shop and the house in the same visit, and that is fine; it is all one quote by the load.

Nearby, and how far we come

Hampton Cove is next door and Big Cove is between the two; the same crew covers all of it. We go down 431 as far as the county line toward Guntersville on a normal schedule and a little past it when a load makes the trip worth it. New Hope and the lake side of the mountain are a question in the form rather than a no.

The drive from Huntsville is over the mountain on 431 or around through Hampton Cove, and either way Owens Cross Roads is inside the same-day radius when the truck is already on the southeast side.

Same-day works best when the photo comes in early in the morning, before the route is set.
